Who doesn't enjoy food? Eating is our first basic instinct for survival. It brings us the vital fuel for building our bodies and operating our functions. Food is life itself.

But food also does more than this; it gives us the pleasure of tastes and a tremendous feeling of wellbeing. Who has never experienced that great feeling of fulfillment after a lovely meal? Hunger causes us anxiety; being satisfied provides a source of joy and comfort.

Most of us in Europe are lucky. We have enough food. With affluence has come abundance. And we have such choice. The choice of types of food, tastes, textures, even colors.

How we use this choice determines our wellbeing. "You are what you eat" is so true. The joy we feel in our daily lives, the comfort we feel with ourselves, our weight and our own bodies, depends on the food and quantities we choose. Nutrition makes us what we are.
