Fraich'Attitude and other Nutrition Promotional Activities
Every year, there are thousands of actions throughout the country around the Fraich' Attitude - a week devoted to the pleasure of consuming fruit and vegetables. Activities include sampling in schools and stores. In 2006, Dole France participated by creating special packaging on three of our products (oranges, pomelos and avocados).
In another activity backing nutrition, Auchan, one of the main retail chains in France, launched a new campaign on health, wellbeing and diet. Dole France featured pineapples, creating special hangtags for them with the message: "L'ananas c'est aussi bon pour ma ligne" (Pineapples are also good for my figure). The action was linked to a competition to win a full year of "wellbeing" training and subscriptions to the magazine "Réponses Santé" (Health Responses).
Another promotion in Auchan used the soccer world cup as a backdrop. Coinciding with the start of the tournament, fruit hangtags announced: "Dole, les fruits de la forme" (Dole, the fitness fruit). Consumers were able to win a TV, DVD and soccer balls.
League against Cancer
In 2005, Dole France joined other fruit distributors in a partnership with La Ligue contre le Cancer (League against Cancer), aimed at encouraging consumers to eat more fruit and vegetables. The mass operation consisted of placing a sticker on over 70 million fresh fruits and vegetables consumed in France during the two-month period.
Having participated in 2005, Dole was invited to participate with La Ligue contre le Cancer again in 2006. This time, the message was: "eat fruit and vegetables with Dole…there is nothing like it for pleasure and vitality". It was communicated on our grapefruits from Mexico and Florida, avocados from Israel, Mexico and Chile and clementines from Morocco. The campaign ran from November 15th to December 16th in our customers Champion and Système U under the slogan: "Eat fruit and vegetables recommended by the League against Cancer".
Dole sponsors La Parisienne: 6 km Race
Sometimes we work with sports events, especially if there is a strong tie with the community. Dole Europe sponsored and participated in the prestigious 6 km "La Parisienne" women's race which took place in Paris on September 17th 2006. The race, starting as usual at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2006 by raising funds and awareness for breast cancer. The organization donated one euro from every registration to the "Fondation Recherche Médicale" (Medical Research Foundation), in order to support the team of scientists working on a research program related to breast cancer.
In line with our commitment to health and wellbeing and our motto to "do what we say", Dole Europe's 27-member lady team, representing all divisions, further promoted our commitment to nutrition and earned 13th place out of 53 in the company ranking – despite the fact that most of the women are not regular athletes and in most cases had never even run that far before! We also provided bananas and oranges along the way to the more than 10,200 runners.
